People

Interns (Summer 2024)

Lucas Van Noort

After participating in a week long trip to Honduras in February, I want to go back because I felt useful and felt like I was helping with something bigger than myself. I also grew more in my spiritual life in during that trip than I have in a long time. The trip made me realize that it’s not possessions and things that bring happiness and make you content it’s God. Being around the people there who are not only content but joyful because they have Jesus was really cool to see and experience.

This summer is the perfect time to to go as I’m graduating in June and don’t and I have no job commitments for the rest of my life until I make them.

I’m open to doing whatever is needed, maybe using the skills I’ve developed during summers working in construction, electrical, mechanics, and multiple farming industries.

This summer I will be going to Honduras from the beginning of June to the end of August as an intern with BBI Missions.

This will be my 5th time in Honduras and my second time as an intern. Ever since the first time I left Honduras, I knew that if it was God’s plan for me, I’d be going back and each time that I have the opportunity to return I couldn’t be more grateful. God had placed a desire on my heart to serve him in Honduras and each time that I return I grow a deeper appreciation for the culture and people of Honduras and how God is working there!

While I am there, I will be serving alongside the Guevara family in their ministry at Blossom Creek as well as in their hometown Siguatepeque. At Blossom Creek I will be helping Megan with the English classes she is teaching as a part of the curriculum at the local school and although I will also be helping with odd jobs at the farm the focus of my time there will be building and strengthening relationships with the locals. I also have plans to help another Honduran missionary couple (The Castellanos) in their work in Los Arrayanes which is another small community in the mountains.

I would love to invite you to join me as I follow God’s leading and head to Honduras this summer. A trip like this isn’t possible without a team behind me supporting me and guiding me along the way. I would love to ask you to join me in prayer as I go and serve because prayer is powerful, and God works through prayer.

While I am there, I will be sending out updates through email. If you would like to support me in prayer, I will be sending out regular praise and prayer requests there so I would love to keep you updated. If you’re just curious to see how God is working in Honduras, then I would also invite you to follow along!
